A passive infrared sensor is a sensor that can produce light and then detect the motion of an infrared emitting source. An infrared emitting source would be any object radiating heat. Because of this feature, passive infrared sensor are suitable for security applications, especially for perimeter security wherein the sensors can be used to track the motion of any individual or any object radiating heat within the proximity of a building. These sensors can be integrated into cameras, temperature sensors and fire detection systems depending on the requirement of these sensors. The passive infrared sensor utilizes minimal power and can operate within a high degree of accuracy. The market as a whole is expected to grow with a positive growth rate during the forecast period. Passive infrared sensors have been used for quite some time in North America and hence have quite a high contribution to the overall market. The APAC region as of 2015 had the lowest contribution but is expected to reco...
